Winter Storm Ember brought freezing rain, sleet, and snow to the Deep South on December 18, 2016. New Orleans started reporting snow flurries around 6 PM local time, and received 6 inches within the next 24 hours. The storm moved North, dumping a lot of snow in New England. On the morning of December 21 around 3 AM local time, the city of Miami reported snow flurries lasting until 7 AM. The city received one inch of snow on the ground. Flurries were reported as far south as Key West. It was the most notable storm in the history of the Deep South.
