Meteorological HistoryEdit

TS Isopropyl formed out of a slow-moving tropical wave with low convection which killed one as it emerged off Senegal, given a near 10% chance of development approximately 650 miles east of San Juan, Puerto Rico.. As the wave neared the Leeward Islands, it merged with a low-pressure system the wave had been interacted with and began to organize further, given a 50% chance of development, later increasing to 90%, and some meteorologists claim that the system formed over 24 hours before, although the NHC did not believe that the system had enough convection in the southeastern quadrant to be declared a depression until early August 12, when the disturbance was declared organized enough to become Tropical Depression 3. The system's cloud pattern began to organize, and as such, 24 hours after the designation of the system as a depression the storm was named Tropical Storm Isopropyl. The storm began to intensify due to low shear and high sea surface temperatures and Isopropyl hit its peak intensity soon after, as it made landfall on Cuba, causing one death due to a traffic accident and many landslides. Damages were near non-existent due to adequate warning. The system turned Northeastward and started to weaken further as shear increased, weakening into a Tropical Depression twelve hours before landfall. The system posed its biggest threat inland, though, as it was affected by the Brown Ocean effect and regained TS status, causing certain rivers to burst their banks and the water. The system quickly weakened though, and dissipated one day later. The remnants continued northwestward and merged with Tropical Storm Ward.
