The tornado first touched down as a brief funnel. The tornado touched down again and hit Indianapolis. It attained EF4 strength shortly after and hit over 1,000 homes. out of the 1,000 homes, about 400 were swept away. In the 400 swept away, about 15 people were killed. The tornado hit a shelter where over 30 people stayed in. The shelter was poorly built and it was destroyed. 1 person was killed in the shelter. The tornado hit lots of homes and buildings. The tornado struck downtown as an EF4 and damaged the Chase Bank Tower heavily. The Children's Museum also sustained heavy damage. The tornado killed many people in the areas.
The tornado exited Indianapolis killing 68 people and leaving Indianapolis in a total catastrophe.
