Season Summary[]
The Season got off to an early start with Arthur forming in January before activity slowed in my were Bertha formed until Christobal formed on the offical start Dolly later formed and became a categiry 5 storm, before june ended with Edouard forming and turning extratropical. Dolly formed and became the season's strongest storm. the rest of the year was hectic until October were a train of storms formed in october

Names[]
These were the names used to name tropical and subtropical cyclones in 2002 any unused name is marked in gray. any retired names will be announced in spring of 2003, any names that werent retired will be used in 2008. Names in BOLD are retired. The names Cristobal, Fay, Omar, Paloma, Rene, Sally, Teddy, Vicky and Wilfred were all used for the first time in 2002,however the names Cristobal and Fay replaced Ceaser and Fran after those names were retired after 1996.

Retirement[]
In Spring of 2003 the WMO retired the names Hanna, Isidore, Lili, Rene and Teddy, these names will never be used again to name another atlantic cyclone due how destrcutive and damaging they were, however the names were replaced by the names Heather, Isaias, Lois, Russel and Theodore for 2008.
